Drake’s dad who seems like a real self-promotional piece of shit said this week that Drake told him that he only said the stuff about him being a bad father to sell records. Drake was upset “Woke up today so hurt man,” Drake began. “My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do? That’s the people we are stuck with”. It is a rare moment of empathy for Drake which is an unsettling feeling. It must be especially hard for Drake since he prefers to date mostly teenagers despite being in his thirties I don’t think he has many positive interactions with fathers.

There was a story this week about a 66-year-old former director of Iowa’s Department of Human Services who resigned shortly following an email he sent out to 4,300 employees containing a suggestion to listen to some Tupac to celebrate the late great artist’s birthday. He would also have “Tupac Fridays” where he would listen to Tupac in his office and would bake cookies. However, it has since come out that despite sending numerous emails with Tupac lyrics in them and constantly praising the artist, his resignation was completely unrelated. His former employer has even gone so far as to put out a statement that he was let go not related in any way with his Tupac infatuation. I think it is really important to note in this story that he was not let go due to his emails involving Tupac lyrics to other employees. That doesn’t seem like a thing you can get fired for and is probably covered in like the First Amendment or something. But you definitely can’t get fired for sending rap lyrics out via email to your co-workers. That would just be crazy right? Surely not legal, and no one who regularly sends rap lyrics out to co-workers or listens to music too loudly at his desk can be fired for doing so. If I worked in HR or something I wouldn’t even look into it because it is so obviously not something you can fire a person for, might even be something that you would reward an employee for, as like a moral boosting activity for the company.

R. Kelly is back in the news for the usual reasons pertaining to his sex cult and grooming of underage girls, he was indicted on 13 felony charges. It must be bittersweet news for Kelly as he faces felony charges but they feature his favorite number; 13.

Last but not least, rapper Blueface had both of his girlfriends get matching hand tattoos of Benjamin Franklin, which is a reminder that he and I lead very different lives.

Genius lyrics, formerly known as Rap Genius is accusing Google of stealing their lyrics content and showing it on their site. They hid Morse code in some of their lyrics and was able to prove that the search company was scrapping their content. I guess Genius doesn’t get that stealing content and showing it on their site is like 90% of what Google does. This also reminds me that once upon a time Rap Genius was valued at a 1 Billion valuation when they were about to do their IPO which is insane for a site that is basically just the info that used to be on the back of CDs. Those investors aren’t getting their money back.

Nikki Minaj has announced her engagement, and says she intends to get married shortly. She said she has found her soulmate, although maybe she should aim for more. The lucky guy has spent over a decade in prison for separate incidents of rape and for manslaughter with a deadly weapon.

RIP Bushwick Bill

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer last year Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys passed away over the weekend at age 52. For a guy who had once shot himself in the eye while high on PCP it feels like too normal a way to go out.

North Carolina Rapper DaBaby fought another area rapper Cam Coldheart in a Luis Vuitton store. DaBaby ends up leaving the opposing rapper on the ground with his pants down. I can definitely get behind rappers posting videos of their literal rap battles.

In other weird rap news Arnold Schwarzenegger released a rap song that is apparently meant for gym motivation. I don’t think any rapper is good enough to motivate me to go to the gym, but Arnold definitely isn’t.
