RIP to the Engine of The Cars
Bruce Springsteen narrowly missed his EGOT when he missed out on an Emmy for his new Netflix show lost the spot he was nominated for to Carpool Karaoke. Give my man his Emmy already, this was his third nomination for an Emmy. Is it too much to ask that Bruce Springsteen win an Emmy and start wearing a massive gold EGOT necklace like Tracy Jordan?
Album of The Week
The Cars - The Cars (1978)
“I don’t mind you comin’ here
And wastin’ all my time
’Cause when you’re standin’ oh so near
I kinda lose my mind”
“I wait for her forever
But she never does arrive”
Unfortunately Ric Ocasek, frontman of The Cars, died yesterday at age 75. In addition to starting a classic band he also contributed his talents to many other albums as a producer. This debut album has an incredible number of hits on it and you can easily picture the 80’s movie B-Roll or montage playing in the background as the song begins to take over your experience. An instant hit this album drove The Cars into instant stardom as it clung to the top of the charts.
Rainbow of Colors
“There’s a rainbow of colors
In the old USA
No one’s gonna whitewash
Those colors away”
Lark
“I’ve been hiding inside my head
It’s me again, it’s no surprise
I’m on my own now”
The Saddest Sound
“I got caught in a storm
And carried away
I got turned, turned around”
So Good
“But it’s in my body and in my brain
One look at him and I can feel the pain”
