Album of The Week
Enema of the State - blink 182 (1999)
“I couldn’t wait ‘til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone”
“Late night, come home
Work sucks, I know
She left me roses by the stairs
Surprises let me know she cares”
Using the same producer as Green Day’s Dookie this album has the same feeling of a Punk classic breaking its way into mainstream. Breaking into the mainstream is always a challenge for Punk bands as they are then often shunned by some of their biggest fans for being too Pop. This was the first album to feature Travis Barker on drums as the difficult tour schedule and an abuse issue forced the band to kick out their former drummer as he was dropping the sticks multiple times in some shows. Barker managed to learn 20 songs less than two hours before their first show as a band and would soon be part of their biggest album.
Best New Track: Divided Sky Lane
“I will some day learn how to let you go”
The Only
“I can’t be the only one who’s lonely tonight
I can’t be the only
One who’s drinking by myself
Wishing that I was somewhere else”
Broadripple is Burning
“And if my woman was a fire
She’d burn out before I wake
And be replaced by pints of whiskey
Cigarettes and outer space”
Life After
“She’s watching from heaven
She’s always beside you”
